Roy Sheinfeld is a senior systems architect with a computer science degree from the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology). Before founding Breez, he spent over a decade engineering high-scale distributed database architectures and enterprise cloud services. His pedigree is defined by his role as a pioneer of the Lightning Service Provider (LSP) model; he was among the first to argue that Lightning Network liquidity should be managed as a background service rather than a manual user task. Under his leadership, Breez transitioned from a standalone wallet to a cross-platform SDK provider, enabling third-party developers to embed non-custodial Lightning nodes directly into their applications.

The Lightning-as-a-Service Stack
Breez provides the “Developer’s Bridge” for the Bitcoin network. Its core technical asset, the Breez SDK, is a Rust-based implementation of the Lightning Development Kit (LDK) that allows any mobile or web app to embed a non-custodial node. The flagship Breez Mobile client was the first to implement the Podcasting 2.0 standard, facilitating real-time “Value-for-Value” (V4V) payments directly from listeners to creators.
Vertical Assets
- Breez SDK (LDK/Rust Native)
- Breez Mobile (Flutter Client)
- Breez LSP (Liquidity Engine)
- Submarine Swap Infrastructure
Ecosystem Support
- Podcasting 2.0 / V4V
- Bolt11 & LNURL Integration
- Self-Custodial Key Management
- Enterprise API Connectivity
Strategic Value
Breez abstracts the technical friction of the Lightning Network. By automating channel management and liquidity provisioning through its LSP, it allows Bitcoin to function as a seamless medium of exchange. Its SDK-centric model ensures that Lightning adoption extends beyond Bitcoin wallets and into the broader “App Economy.”

Strategic Alignment: Breez transitioned its SDK from a Greenlight-based (hosted) model to a decentralized LDK-based (local) architecture in 2024, doubling down on the project’s long-term commitment to absolute user self-custody.
